Begin the Transition now!

FOOD

Rising oil costs hit food prices disproportionately. Add in concern about “food miles”, and the need to redevelop local food sources has never been higher. The Food Team is concerned with all issues of local food production and supply. Some members are particularly interested in homegrown, organic vegetables and fruit, and several are at various stages of learning about Permaculture.

TRANSPORT

How can we improve transportation options in the face of rising fuel costs and the desire to reduce carbon emissions? Join the Transport Team to discuss ideas such as the Car Sharing and Community Bus schemes that have been so successful elsewhere.

ENERGY

Energy Team members are interested in all aspects of energy usage & efficiency, from heating bills to appliance efficiency and on to alternative energy systems. The initial focus, however, is on the most important pre-requisite, the one which is both easiest to implement and has the greatest potential to cut everyone’s heating bills: INSULATION.

If these issues interest you, contact us to get involved!

Other groups will also form as interest develops.
